It always interests me that Warren Buffet, one of the world’s richest men, has made his money by carefully studying and investing in enterprises. Yet most employees have no clue about how the enterprise they work in work. Employment is a course in entrepreneurship. However, many employees never graduate with an enterprise diploma. Most employees are satisfied to earn an income and pay their monthly bills, but never take the time to learn the secret of enterprise.
Though the wheel of enterprise turns daily in their workspace, employees never observe how money is made, how production is organized, how marketing is done and pay no attention to how profits are shared. But why should employees observe and learn enterprise? Enterprise is a life skill. It is a competence used at work, at home and throughout life. Those who fail to learn enterprise never find the secret of creating wealth and can work an entire lifetime without saving money or owning property.
Is it ethical to learn enterprise on the job? Enterprise is about
hard work, organization, productivity and creativity to meet needs within
society. Enterprise creates wealth as a result and by-product of this engagement.
If you don’t learn the keys to enterprise you may be tempted to steal. The
easiest way to learn enterprise is to watch someone who does it successfully
and learn from them. If you learn entrepreneurial thinking, you may open your
own enterprise someday. But even if you don’t open your own enterprise,
thinking like an entrepreneur will make you a better employee and may just get
you promoted within the enterprise in due time.
